Here at China Betty we believe gift giving should be personal, and we like to think that we help to spread a little happiness.

We design and hand decorate beautiful bone china items to showcase your own personal messages, important dates and even little stories. Perhaps a good morning gorgeous breakfast cup, a favourite quote on a plate or even a “thank you” teapot...

Our beautifully designed and hand decorated gifts are known to cause outbreaks of spontaneous delight and, of course, to make the recipient feel really special.

A 1930's "gift for a good girl” cup originally inspired designer Nicky Lewis to set up China Betty to bring your heartfelt, funny or even slightly risque messages to tableware. Nicky died suddenly in late 2017, a terrible shock.  She left behind a wealth of designs, drawings and ideas for new china, which we’re making with all the love and care that she had.

Now run by daughter Bryony Lewis with her dad doing much of the making and all of the firing, we are very much a family business and based here on our family croft in a workshop right by the sea on the isle of Lismore, just off the wild and beautiful west coast of Scotland. 

We're creating new designs on a regular basis and may well have new ones on the go, such as gardening, or lobsters(!) which we can immediately make up for you with your own message or personalisation - just ask!

‘Fully Bespoke’ is a service we’re increasingly offering - you can choose any design, or part of a design and combine it in any piece or shape of china we stock or can order.  Why not talk to us about your own quite unique order - it will generally cost only a wee bit more than any of our ‘standard’ designs or themes and we will put up your own product page where you can order it!
